Welcome to My Rally Campaign
My name is Antonio Torres, but everyone calls me Tony. – I’m an experienced WCMX athlete who has participated in the WCMX World Championship in 2016 and 2017 in Grand Prairie, Texas. I placed 2nd in intermediate class the first year and 4th the following year in same class. I’m also highly involved in the WCMX movement here in state of Florida. I participate in various community events, clinics and demonstrations that showcase what WCMX is all about, and how it has helped shape my life.
My goal for this campaign is to help raise enough funds to compete in the 2018 WCMX World Champioships. With the goal of $3000, the support from my family, friends, and organizations who have already been supporting me, I’m truly confident that I will be able to compete at WCMX World Championships in Fontana California this April. I look forward to the Worlds all year and I’ve been training hard with Tina Tallman from Me and You Fitness Academy since my last competition. I feel stronger and more motivated since I started training.
I can’t wait to get out there and demonstrate what I’ve learned.
Why I'm Raising Funds
100% of the money raised will be used for equipment, travel expenses, airfare, lodging and transportation for my coach and I to attend the event. Every bit counts and with your sponsorship I'm truly positive that I will reach this goal.
I was born with Spina bifida a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don't form properly during pregnancy. Even though I’ve had numerous surgeries and procedures growing up, I feel truly blessed to have made it to where I am. I faced difficulties and limitations, but always do my best to focus on what was important to me like family, sports, art and helping others.
I’m a graphic artist , WCMX athlete and love working with the community. I’ve always been a trickster, but in 2014 I seen a youtube video of Aaron Fotheringham landing the first wheelchair flip, and new right then that I needed to be involved. Around that same time, I started to rally my family and friends to help with the equipment that I needed to accomplish my goals. Can’t tell you how happy I was, the day that I received my new custom chair built by Mike Box and Box Wheelchairs team. You wouldn’t believe how much self esteem is unlocked when you get into a Box Chair.
Currently working with ASF Adaptive Sports and Me and U Fitness to bring these experiences to as many people as possible. Everyone deserves their chance to shine.
This year I hope to expand our team and sponsors.
I sincerely would like to thank my sponsors for making my dreams a reality. Special thanks to Anthony Quinones, JR Miller, Steve Sadler, Tina Tallman from Me and U Fitness Academy, David Cardona from Affordable Medical, Embrey’s Moving Solutions, ASF Adaptive Sports, JD from Herbal Remedy Clothing, Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida, and the whole WCMX crew for providing me with the means and motivation to compete at my peak performance. It’s truly an honor to represent this community on the world stage, and to help raise awareness of the adaptive sports lifestyle.
Together, we can show the little ones living with disabilities that it’s still possible for them to train, compete, and become a hero- even to the strongest of people.
