My name is Julie Ware. I grew up with a father who adored baseball and as a result my son loves the game and has a natural athletic ability. I wanted to give my son as well as other local young men the opportunity to play an amazing sport that may take them through high school and possibly college, maybe even the MLB someday. I partnered with an amazing coach and another mom and we created the Las Vegas Tornadoes.
We are a non-profit organization that sits under the Fatherhood Support Network and are coached by former college and semi-pro baseball player, Stan Williams. He has coached high school and youth baseball for over 20 years. Stan teaches his players proper mechanics and the fundamentals of baseball while incorporating the right mental approach, having fun and maintaining their passion for baseball.
“Every aspect of baseball; pitching, hitting and fielding should be approached with a purpose. If you practice with purpose then you will play with purpose.”
The goal of our program is building a team where players’ skills are developed and improved on the baseball field, teaching proper fundamentals, work ethic and creating a positive learning environment.
The Tornadoes range are under 12 years old and practice twice a week while competing in local and out of state tournaments. Our coaches stress the importance of school along with maintaining a positive attitude on and off the field.
We are raising monies to help the kids pay for their tournament fees as well as some travel expenses when required. We plan on doing one or more tournaments per month and they range from $550 to $1000 per tournament per team.
Your donations will be giving these young men the opportunity to compete with teams from all over Las Vegas as well as surrounding states. The experience of tournaments and strong professional focused practices will give them purpose, keep them busy and off the streets as well as prepare them for high school and college baseball if that is the path they choose. These players need your support in assisting them with their team goals, and providing community support allowing them to be a positive role model to other kids and to help fulfill their dreams.
