Welcome to the Georgia Kings 11th Grade Basketball Rally Campaign!
My name is Dwayne Moore. I am currently the Head Coach for the Georgia Kings 11th Grade basketball team. I am assisted by Coach Fred Griffin. The Georgia Kings is a Non-Profit sports organization located in Marietta, GA. Our purpose in this program is to provide opportunities for high profile athletes to participate in competitive basketball games with teams locally in Georgia, and also teams in surrounding states. This gives our players a chance to compare their talent with the talent of other athletes, create friendships through the game of basketball, and also gain exposure to some college recruiters.
How we arrived here
I have been actively coaching basketball since 2008. I have worked with many programs in different states including cities like Chicago, IL, Aberdeen, MS, Atlanta, GA, and Marietta, GA. I have had the pleasure of working with many awesome athletes, but my experience with the "Georgia Kings" and what the program stands for is why the Kings organization will always have my commitment to constructing and building stepping stones for our players to succeed for the years to come.
We put a lot of time, effort, and hours into producing the best results for our players. We teach them discipline, we train them to be better athletes on and off the court, and we also show them the importance of their grades and excelling in school (as we teach the principles of the "student-athlete"). We want our children to succeed in every aspect of their high school journey. For the 2018 season we have a diverse mixture of returning players from the 2017 season, and a warm welcoming of new faces to join our success for the season before us in 2018 as well. The guys will learn leadership skills along the way, as we intend to also have community involvement around our area as well. We want our young men to reach our to the younger generations before them, being a role model in school, and on the basketball court. We also will host a skills and development clinic where the players will take time with our youth. This time will be spent going over shooting abnd passing drills, dribbling drills, share their experiences, and have lunch with the team.
Why are we raising funds
To be able to provide a worthwhile experience for our players and parents, there are specific costs that keep our program running that are unavoidable. The costs for participation include: gym time for practices, team registration fees, tournament fees, uniforms, lodging and travel, and food costs for the players. As an example, our gym costs are $1500 for the season, and tournament registration and fees are $2500. While these costs get passed on to the players and coaches, some of the fees are burdensome to come by for some participants. In these instances, the team faces a small hurdle in our season that we will have to overcome. We currently do not have any sponsorship or major contributors that help us cut these costs down. Our objective is to help fund money for our players so that they can all actively participate.
