Children seek out challenges and push themselves physically for fun…that’s part of growing up. Children fighting cancer endure severe medical challenges and suffer physically in ways that are hard to comprehend, and harder to watch.
Some adults seek out grueling physical challenges for fun. Some of these very special people push themselves to extremes in support of and dedication to children that don’t have a choice in the challenges they face. Adventure racers and ultra runners are some of the fittest and strongest humans. They often dedicate a "Brave Run for a Brave One" to a child fighting cancer, some of the bravest and toughest humans.
Amy Costa is one of USA's toughest ultra racers and this July she ran her 6th race in support of HOPE FASTER. The race? Nothing less than "the world's toughest foot race"...The Badwater 135 ultra marathon starting in Death Valley, CA. 135 miles of brutal terrain, intense vertical and searing heat.
Amy runs for our cause because she understands that children fighting cancer face something similar: intense lows, brutal treatments and searing pain. Fittingly, Amy is running for Hope, the young cancer fighter that inspired Hope's sister to found HOPE FASTER.
This is the 6th year Amy has run the Badwater 135 and the fourth year supporting HOPE FASTER. When Amy enters ultra marathons a team of volunteers supports her. When Amy runs the Badwater 135 we'll be supporting her and her team in their efforts to raise funds for pediatric cancer research.
Amy has seen firsthand the devastation cancer causes, to her own family, to children and to friends. Amy is a mother of 3 grown children and a lifetime instructor in youth outdoor education so she understands and is inspired by children every day. Children like Hope and too many other young cancer fighters offer even more inspiration for Amy to reach deeper personally and push us all to do more.
Please show support for Amy’s amazing efforts and HOPE FASTER, because children deserve to choose their challenges. Hope inspires Amy, Amy inspires us and your generous donation directly supports groundbreaking pediatric cancer research. Support Amy in her Brave Run for a Brave One!
