Need for New Soccer Fields
Since 1997 the Owatonna Soccer Association (OSA) has been dedicated to promoting youth soccer for girls and boys in a high quality and safe environment. We have not added any soccer fields in Owatonna since the Owatonna Soccer Complex was built in 2001 despite the fact that the number of participants in our youth soccer programs (offered by the Park & Recreation Department, Owatonna High School and OSA) have increased since then by nearly 30% to over 1,500 players per year. Youth soccer in Owatonna has the most participants, by a substantial margin, over any other youth sport and is expected to continue to have significant growth. We presently have a critical shortage of soccer fields with only four small fields, two medium fields and three regulation size fields (all at the Complex) available for games and only a few other fields available for practice in Owatonna.
Summary of Project
We now have a unique opportunity to build five new fields in Owatonna to be used for both games and practices, located just north of Rice Lake Street East and just east of Willow Avenue. OSA donated $45,000 to the City of Owatonna to enable the City to purchase this property with the express purpose of developing soccer fields. The funds raised for this project will be used to construct all five soccer fields, install irrigation and construct one parking lot. This project is being done with the approval and coordination of City officials to make sure that it is properly developed.
Contribution – Lasting Recognition for Significant Contributions
OSA has already received generous matching grants from the Owatonna Foundation of $40,000 in 2018 and $35,000 in 2019 for this project. This means that for every dollar contributed to this fundraising effort in 2018 the Foundation will match it up to $40,000 and for every dollar contributed in 2019 the Foundation will match it up to $35,000. If you prefer to spread out your contribution with a portion made in 2018 and a portion made in 2019 that would be perfectly acceptable. For each contribution of $150 or more your family’s name (or your child’s name) will be engraved on a paving brick prominently displayed at the new soccer field for a lasting recognition of your contribution. Also, for any company contributing $300 or more the company’s name will be engraved on a commercial size paving brick and also displayed on a Soccer Wall of Fame at the new soccer fields. OSA is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contribution is tax deductible.
Also for every contribution of $300 or more the contributor will receive an Owatonna Soccer Association scarf.
We welcome all contributions to reach our fundraising goal so that we can build these greatly needed soccer fields for games and practices to meet the needs of our current youth soccer programs, as well as the expected sizeable increases in those programs as our community grows.
Please direct any contribution questions to the OSA Treasurer Nicole Schulz at email@example.com.
OSA thanks you for your anticipated kind and generous contributions. Together we can make a difference in the young lives of our community.
