I’m a 13-year old with dreams of playing Major League Baseball. I’m writing to ask for your help to fulfill my dream. In order to achieve my goal it will to take God-given talent, preparation, the right opportunities, a winning attitude and support from loved ones.
I’m grateful to have been selected as 1 of 16 thirteen year olds for a baseball team that is going to play in Cuba with the Wheelhouse Academy from Richmond, CA (March 2019). The kids taking this remarkable and life changing trip were chosen after competing against kids from all over the East Bay to make the California Allstars. They were selected based on their baseball abilities, ensuring those with a love and talent for the game get to experience baseball in a way only Cubans know how to play. Most come from lower income communities unable to afford the trip expenses. For many, this is their first experience travelling outside their own communities.
From the time I was notified I was selected until the flights need to be secured, I was given 4 weeks to raise $3,000, which includes room and board, facilities, tournament costs and equipment to help kids in Cuba as well. We need your help to make this trip happen. Please donate today. The Wheelhouse Academy is a 501c3 - your donations are tax deductible. I’m asking for your help to fulfill my dream so I can experience this once in a lifetime opportunity. I am grateful for your support.
Thanks to all my coaches who have helped me develop over the years:
Washington Manor Baseball (San Leandro), Extreme (Rios/Castro Valley). I’ve also worked with the Wheelhouse Academy (Richmond, CA), Game Changers Baseball, Baseball Factory, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and attended Oakland A’s camps to improve my craft.
I’m currently an 8th grader at Claremont Middle School, where I strive to be a strong student and play flag football. My last marking period grades were all A’s and a B+. I’m pushing myself by taking advanced algebra. This summer to develop my leadership skills, I served as a Camp Counselor at First Covenant Church and as a Youth Leader at My Yute Soccer Camp. I hope to grow as a person and as a baseball player while in Cuba. I hope to also learn from their culture.
