Hi, thanks for visiting my page! My name is Alexi Micinski and I ski slopestyle for the US Freeskiing Rookie Team. This year I will be traveling and competing in the 5 Olympic qualifying events. I hope to compete in X-Games and make the Olympic team. My goal is to raise money to help fund my travels with the Rookie Team this winter.
If I reach my fundraiser goal, it will allow me to travel, train, and compete with the US Freeski team. You can help me follow my dreams on the road to Sochi 2014.
I started skiing in Idaho when I was 6 years old. I fell in love with the winter season, and raced when I was younger. At 15, I tried skiing park (hitting the jumps and rails in the terrain park). I loved the endless possibilities the park offered and won a few local competitions. As soon as I joined the local team in Idaho, I aspired to be a professional skier. I was the only girl on the team and worked hard to try to keep up with the boys. The guys on my team always told me I was going to be as good as the pros. I didn't believe them because they were so much better than me. When I was 17, I was invited to the USSA Gold Camp for freeskiers. I was pretty lucky to have been invited since I hadn't competed much. Camp was the turning point for me. The coaches saw potential and invited me to be on the US Rookie Freeskiing Team. That was the moment I knew I could make my dreams happen, and pursue a future in slopestyle skiing. There are so many amazing reasons why I do what I do on skis. The feelings I get when flying through the air, landing a new trick, or just shredding some turns in the powder are just a few things I love about my sport. I love skiing and can't believe I have a chance to be a part of the 2014 Olympics.
My RallyMe Goal
My RallyMe goal is to raise $15,000 through a raffle. $5,000 of this will cover my Rookie Team budget. This budget covers things like lodging, coaching, lift tickets, etc. for the season. As you know, traveling can get pretty expensive. So, the other $10,000 will go toward traveling around the world, competing and pursuing my freeskiing dreams. For every donation, the donor will be entered into a raffle to win some sweet gear from my ski sponsor, Faction Skis. The raffle prizes include skis, poles, a helmet, and t-shirts. There will be 3 winners, so help fund my travels with the US Freeskiing Rookie Team and be entered to win some awesome gear!
