At KIDS in the GAME, we envision a healthier, more active generation:
One Kid, One Community at a time.
Join Us in 2016!Today, too many children grow up with limited access to physical activity due to severe budget cuts to school PE programs and the pay-to-play costs of after school programs. As a result, our kids are not developing their ability, confidence, and desire to play. Our aim is to increase access to developmentally appropriate activity through partnering with individuals, communities, and businesses to support underserved kids and schools through the PASS and GO! Grant programs.
Through the Pass Program, kids and their families apply directly to KIDS in the GAME for financial support to help pay their participation fees for sports and activity programs they choose. The Pass Program was piloted in Central Oregon, our base of operations, and has since grown to include San Diego, Dallas, and Leadville, Colorado, due to generous support from individual donors, clubs, organizations, and corporate partners who desire to impact youth in their own communities.
PHIT America GO! Grants are $1,000-$5,000 microgrants designed to jumpstart new low-cost physical activity programs on elementary school campuses before, during, and after school. Dozens of partners make these grants possible through high-quality programming, gear, and professional development. GO! Grants have resourced sustainable programs in 156 schools, increasing every student's physical activity minutes towards the nationally-recommended 60 minutes per day.
To date, 60,000 kids ages 5-18 are physically active throughout the day due to these two simple solutions. Our goal for 2016 is to double that number by supporting kids and their schools in more communities around the country.
