My name is Miki Reid and I am the co-club director along with Ray Lewis of Vegas Xtreme Sports Club. Vegas XTREME is a non-profit organization aiming to promote the advancement of youth volleyball in their pursuit to excel in their sport. We provide high-caliber training, elite coaching and competitive opportunities for athletes to progress their skills. We aim to provide each athlete the ability to compete at the collegiate level. In competing in the travel arena, our players are performing in front of various college coaches that do not normally have the opportunity to see our Las Vegas players. Travel Volleyball gives players a chance to excel in front of nationally ranked coaches searching to financially help these players play for them at the collegiate level. These young men work hard and stay determined in their efforts to representing Vegas Xtreme Sports Volleyball Club as well as the community, which is represented in the classroom, on the court and through the lasting relationships they build.
Unfortunately, many of our players across the valley deal with the financial struggles of the transient life that many families are surrounded by here in Las Vegas. There is a major financial commitment to become a member of our program. Our boys club volleyball season runs from September to January and then May to July, which comes to a $4,000.00 cost. During the season, the club teams practice 2-3 times per week and in order to give athletes the exposure necessary; we travel to competitive tournaments located in various locations throughout the nation. Costs associated with these trips include, but are not limited to, tournament entry fees, hotels and lodging, and transportation fees (ranging from automotive and airfare). Players must also cover costs associated with registration and gear for the season. While some players are able to meet these financial standards, many are not and we do not want players to not have the opportunity to improve for collegiate volleyball to be taken away because of something out of their control: finances.
By donating to our program, you will allow financially disadvantaged athletes the opportunity to participate as active members of our travel team and ultimately receive the opportunity to compete at the next level.
The past season our 18s team finished 3rd out of 69 teams in the Boys Junior National Championship in Columbus, OH. To date we have had over 40 of our seniors go on to play at the next level receiving college scholarships in mens volleyball. The majority of these players were able to play due to generous donations from family, friends, and the community. Please help us to continue providing opportunities to these young men by donating to our club.
