Help the Rockford Rowing team buy a new boat!
Last year the Rockford Rowing team overcame a challenge that could have finished them; a devastating situation resulting in the removal of the head coach dealt a crushing blow to the team and left them reeling and short staffed, among other challenges. The remaining coaches rallied for the next season. Our team members, driven by their love of rowing and the endurance it has taught them, kept their focus on the most important goal... being their best! Through grace, grit, and determination they brought home numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals, placing in multiple boats at every regatta.
The team came in first in the state of Michigan and brought home a gold medal from the Midwest Scholastic Regatta. At the U.S. Nationals, the team had a 10th place, 7th place and 6th place and a silver medal from the Canadian Scholastic Nationals, one of the largest regattas in North America. This October they even have the privilege of sending a boat to compete in one of the most prestigious regattas in rowing, Boston's Head of the Charles.
Each day at practice, the athletes reached down deep to focus on supporting each other and their remaining coaches while they worked hard at the drills. Meanwhile, the parents began a quiet campaign to honor this team's incredible strength and resiliency by raising money toward a new 8-person boat. This initial campaign got us off to a good start. We've already raised over 74% of the funds. We need to raise an additional $11,000. Will you help us get there?
Thank you Rockford Rowing friends for your support!
It’s been two and half weeks since we kicked off our Rally Around a New 8-boat for Rockford Rowing and with your help, we are $585 closer to our goal! Just a bit over $10,000 to raise.
We are currently in the Fall Club Season, meaning participation is not mandatory and many of our athletes are focused on thier other fall sports and activities; like our Marching Band who was selected to play in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York! These high schoolers are hard working! We even have some who are doing both fall rowing and band!
Club season or Varsity season, the team still works hard to develop and compete! We have three regattas between now and when weather causes us to pull the dock out in November…
- Head of the Grand; Hosted by MSU Crew in Lansing on October 17
- The Esteemed Head of the Charles in Boston on October 21-22; We have our top Women’s Four boat competing. Live streaming may be available. We’ll upload a link on this site once we know more information.
- The Leelenau Chase, hosted by the Lake Leelenau Rowing Club on October 29th.
Keep cheering the team on and help us to share our quest to finish our campaign on our new boat. Thank you for your support!
